The headline;
Unlikely issue that could cost Trump election
Oh dear must be something big and new!!!!

The actual fuck?
A major issue once championed by Republicans but now quietly dumped by many as voter sentiment swiftly turns looks set to be a deciding factor in the US presidential election.

And it has nothing to do with the economy or cost-of-living issues.

President Joe Biden looks all but certain to face-off against Donald Trump in November, where a growing number of pundits believe the hot-button topic of abortion could decide things.
It's fucking abortion, is anyone ignorant of the fact that abortion, or actually safe access to abortion isn't a HUGE issue in the US? Court cases everywhere, Supreme Court controversies, women having to face almost certain death unless they can flee to an abortion safe state? Where have these people been for the last few years? The announce it in the headlines as if it's an obscure issue that could come suddenly and cause problems, whereas it's actually probably the prime reason the Republicans have been doing so badly in many minor state elections.

That is huge news...to anyone whose only news source is newsdotcom! I guess. Might also be huge news to newscorp editors that put this shit together.

I'm pretty sure the news.com.au editors have a special dispensation to occasionally report on reality because there's a certain demographic, (e.g. women, young people) who might click on it. The other Murdoch outlets, the ones that they really care about, are full of bullshit primarily for dumb white men.

More polls, on Fox even. The poll shows Biden up by 5 points, to now be leading Trump by 6 points among registered voters. It's way early to predict anything from polls, but keep in mind that the 5 point increase is from December, so in 1 month Biden increased his lead by 5 points, the majority of it seems to be female voters.

Wait for the Trump dummy spit because this was on Fox News......

Republicans in Georgia are stumped, none of the dirt they are throwing around seems to be having any effect on the Trump RICO case, so they have come up with another plan, change the law to make it legal, and apply it retroactively, then put a clause in that states that none of the defendants can ever be charged again, bold move there!

Democracy in 'merica.
About 15,700 people voted at the polls, according to the secretary of state’s office, while about 151,000 voted early.
Who can really be arsed? Y'all going to be fucked over by the wealthy regardless of who wins. Though it'd be better not to be murdered by the unhinged fascist, so hopefully people will be arsed in November.

The story though is about Haley losing to the 'none of these candidates' option. I kind of have a tiny inkling of respect for her persistence, and i hope she keeps going. If Trump drops dead she'll do a Bradbury, presumably, and the Maga mob won't all turn up for the election maybe?

Anyway, this is a curious episode in the series, quite funny really, in a dark sort of way.

I don't wish death on people as a rule, but in terms of living in interesting times, it would so much more fun if either Trump or Biden or both died. I was also thinking what a "wow factor" it would be if Charles dies and all of a sudden there was a young King William.

Yes, i just posted on that in the monarchies thread, which makes me think that i'm preoccupied with mortality as the only way out of this mess (that is, others not my own). I think wishing death on people is something to be avoided, but it is proportional to age and to how much damage they are doing. When someone is approaching 80 and threatening the lives of vulnerable people and quite possibly the future of the entire species (Trump's 'drill, drill, drill' bullshit), i reckon it's ok to openly express the hope that he drops stone motherless from natural causes. I mean, come on, he's a billionaire, famous, he's had a great life, presumably, by his own standards, so....I think it's ok.

Trump will advise Putin to attack Nato member states that don't contribute enough money to Nato? That's like advising the mafia to attack any cop from the organised crime unit that doesn't contribute enough to the police union fund. It's so hair-brained and weird i'm finding it difficult to get my head around, but i suspect the point is not to try to get one's head around this, it's simply a case of Trump not liking Nato and preferring Putin.

This article mostly skips over Trump and focuses on GOP reaction, which is typically forgiving, and where there is push back it's pretty mild.

This is a wake up call for NATO and other EU members. They need to be able to defend themselves without the aid of the U.S.
Spiral out ....
