More Canadians harassed by US police for no reason;
A Halifax-based folk music duo say police who pulled them over on a highway in the U.S. Midwest earlier this month accused them of having drugs in their rental car and questioned them about their allegiance in a strange interaction that lasted nearly an hour.

Breaking news, Elon Musk has threatened to hunt down the leaker who leaked that he was being leaked top secret information by the US President, stand by, more leaks to come.
Donald Trump’s top adviser Elon Musk has openly threatened Pentagon employees who may have leaked information that the tech billionaire was due to get a briefing on a potential American war with China.
In more news, the planned information session about the plans for war with China will in fact not include any information about war with China and will, in fact, not mention China at all, because that would be silly since we are actually at war with Eurasia, we have always been at war with Eurasia, a Pentagon spokesman said under the cover of anonymity.

Interestingly, despite it being completely false, and in fact something that was made up entirely, it definitely originated in the Pentagon because, well, why would anyone outside the Pentagon make up such a maliciously false story!
Trump’s comments were then reposted on X by Musk, who called the New York Times “pure propaganda” and issued a threat, saying he looks “forward to the prosecution of those at the Pentagon who are leaking maliciously false information to NYT.”
I mean, the NY Times could have just made it all up themselves and there may be no-one in the Pentagon to actually hunt down and persecute, you know just putting that thought out there. I mean if it's all made up, why does it have to have been made up by someone in the Pentagon, well unless it's based on some information from the Pentagon, in which case...it's actually true? I mean really these people are so stupid, they could have just accused the NY Time of having made it all up if it was all false and it would probably go away, but linking it definitely to somebody in the Pentagon, well that's just confirmation right?

It's simply not safe, you can do everything right, and still be placed in detention for weeks!
"Lennon Tyler and her German fiancé often took road trips to Mexico when he vacationed in the United States since it was only a day’s drive from her home in Las Vegas, one of the perks of their long-distance relationship.

But things went terribly wrong when they drove back from Tijuana last month.

U.S. border agents handcuffed Tyler, a U.S. citizen, and chained her to a bench, while her fiancé, Lucas Sielaff, was accused of violating the rules of his 90-day U.S. tourist permit, the couple said. Authorities later handcuffed and shackled Sielaff and sent him to a crowded U.S. immigration detention center. He spent 16 days locked up before being allowed to fly home to Germany."
No laws broken, no suspicious activity, just a tourist on a valid tourist visa and a US citizen being harassed and detained not because they are any sort of danger, but simply because they, ICE, are allowed to do it. The fact that he was detained for 16 days in what are probably illegal conditions considering other stories already released instead of just being put on the next plane back to Germany shows that they intentionally subjected him to cruel and unusual punishment, a clear breach of human rights!

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng- ... itarianism

A neat summary of the situation.

For me the most notable point is that the Dems are very proud of their efforts to block maga in the courts. I seem to recall that was more or less their reelection campaign, and how did that end up? Maybe it'll work this time. (But it almost certainly won't). Maga is creating an autocracy, laws generated from the old democracy don't have to count anymore. The Dems, in a familiar pattern, are bringing their very bestest knife to an automatic firearm fight.

I am being too harsh because i don't know what it is they should be doing. The Bernie and AOC stadium tour seems positive and a bit different, maybe something comes from that. Perhaps they might demand the UN oversee the midterm elections? I don't know.

First they came for the 'illegal' immigrants...and i did not speak out because i was not an illegal immigrant.

Hit the streets in enormous numbers. Even if my crystal ball gazing I outline below proves wrong, hitting the streets in enormous numbers is the best.

Within months we are highly likely to see rising inflation, collapsing businesses and local economies, tourism and export industries failing, bankruptcies, a recession, worsening health outcomes. I'm not sure how bad it will get. I saw a headline speculating about famine in America, so that's one extreme. Far less than that ought to wake the sleeping masses and get them onto the street. The "stadium tour" might be a good rehearsal for that.

It is looking like the institutional bulwarks, the vaunted checks and balances have already failed. Even if the judiciary holds the line, who is left to enforce the rulings? Only a mass uprising can stop this now.

Countering that, Reagan also ushered in a recession as soon has be took office, but after a couple of years everyone was hypnotised and he had an almost clean sweep of the electoral college in 1984. But I think what Trump is doing is different to Reagan, and he won't be able to gaslight enough people. Another danger is that the regime will be ready to use violence to stop the mass protest movement from forming. In that case, enough people have to put their bodies on the line and die for the cause. Also Nelson Mandela's Rivonia speech on the course of violence and how to respond to it effectively should be followed.

Trump wants to send US citizens to El Salvador to prison, people say it's illegal he can't do that, yeah right when has that stopped him before? I mean a judge, a literal judge, issued a court order, and he just ignored it, what you going to do, get another court order so he can ignore it? And pray what hideous crime would they need to commit to get sent to El Salvador prisons....oh sorry, yeah, vandalising Tesla's, just Tesla's, no other cars, it's almost as if, you know, he's being controlled by someone who has a big interest in Tesla's!

People keep saying Musk will be gone soon, Trump will get tired of him, it's very much looking like it may actually be the other round, I suspect Musk is ordering old donny boy off to Mar a Lardo to play golf if he looks like he's getting in the way!
President Donald Trump has repeatedly floated sending American prisoners to serve prison sentences outside the country — this time threatening the people charged with vandalizing Teslas.

Civil rights groups say the move is illegal and life-threatening.

Trump’s suggestion on Truth Social on Friday to send the Tesla attackers to El Salvador marks an escalation of his already controversial use of foreign prisons, this time potentially targeting American citizens

It's definitely different from Reagan. Neoliberalism, for all its flawed awfulness, was a structured economic experiment with some kind of theoretical scaffold that determined policy. What maga is doing is chaotic kleptomania. I would argue that the Reagan era neoliberals truly believed that it would benefit everyone, they believed the trickle down bullshit, they were woefully wrong but they believed. Maga is comprised of under-educated bigots, misogynists and thieves, there's no actual belief in any of it, there's idiotic delusion and christian millenarianism, and that's about it.

We are witnessing stupidopia unfold here. Consider tourism, one of the US's biggest 'exports' (it is considered an export because it is foreign currency entering a domestic economy, same with education services). Tourism will be all but destroyed by these reports of people being almost randomly imprisoned upon entry, and then taking days or weeks to get out. If this keeps up, no one will go there, no one will dare. That's just one industry. Maga is death to America.

What i fear is that when it all becomes completely unsustainable they'll launch a gigantic war, probably against China, for no real reason beside not knowing what else to do.

"They took over the airports in the civil war."....oops sorry, wrong idiot. "Flue vaccines caused the 1918 Spanish Flu." Yes let that sink in, a vaccine that wasn't developed until the 1930's and didn't actually come into widespread use until the 1950's caused the Spanish Flue 20 years before it was invented! In fact the Spanish Flu led to widespread desire and research to develop a vaccine against the flu, the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic wasn't caused by the vaccine, the Pandemic caused the Flue Vaccine to be developed!
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. convened a panel of health misinformation superstars on Tuesday evening for a roundtable discussion that suggested his medical conspiracism will be a key component of his 2024 presidential run. During the unfiltered conversation, he falsely suggested that millions of deaths in the Great Influenza (or “Spanish flu”) epidemic of 1918 could be attributed to vaccine experiments.
Funny how these things are only coming out now that he's a failed presidential candidate and in charge of the health of 100's of millions of Americans!

American's should read this and be scared, he thinks nearly all diseases are cause by vaccines, Lyme disease, HIV, Flu etc.
“I do not believe that infectious disease is an enormous threat to human health,” Kennedy added. The presidential hopeful stated that if he assumed office, he would target medical journals and redirect funding grants away from epidemiology.
And the idiot in charge put this man in charge!

I can't remember if I put it in writing, but I've long thought there should be travel warnings for the USA. Previously it would have been a sort of provocative thing to say in general company because it was so far from the reality of what DFAT and similar agencies overseas were doing. But now, here we are, travel warnings for the USA.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/n ... 590093007/

Edit: I did say it, and it was only six weeks ago. viewtopic.php?p=7173#p7173
The US is a shithole country. I think there should be travel warnings issued by DFAT for this, and also for things like mass shootings, racist violence by MAGA and J6 style mobs, arbitrary detention and deportation, that sort of thing. Also don't buy American goods and services, especially not Tesla cars, starlink internet. If Trump's tariffs target Australian exports like they did in 2017, we shouldn't be shy about banning or restricting those imports.

Not sure if this is a parody article, it's annoying when things go so weird you can't tell anymore!
Donald Trump on his son Barron: “He can look at a computer... I turn off his laptop, I said, ‘Oh good,’ and I go back about five minutes later, he’s got his laptop, I say, ‘How do you do that?’.. He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology.
